Why pick a real 501(c)(3) for your vehicle donation

Not every site that calls itself a "car donation charity" is one. Many are for-profit intermediaries that keep 60–80% of the sale price and pass the rest to a charity partner. We're the opposite: Cars Helping Kids is operated directly by Fainting Goat Foundation, a registered Georgia 501(c)(3). The legal entity that picks up your car is the same entity that runs the programs.

Because we cut out the middleman, more of your vehicle's value actually reaches kids. Net proceeds — sale price minus the actual cost of towing and titling — go straight into program spending. Our overhead is the foundation's overhead, not a 30% "administrative fee" charged by a third-party processor.

What "trusted" looks like, in practice

You get the same paperwork you'd get from any major national charity: an IRS Form 1098-C after sale, a real EIN for your tax preparer, and a written record of the donation event. You can verify our 501(c)(3) status independently on the IRS Tax-Exempt Organization Search any time.

What you also get, that big charity-donation portals don't offer: a direct line to a small team that knows your case. We answer the phone. We text you back. If something is weird about your vehicle — odd title situation, lien, gifted car, estate sale — we figure it out with you, not around you.

Common questions

How do I verify you're a real 501(c)(3)?
Search 'Fainting Goat Foundation' on the IRS Tax-Exempt Organization Search at apps.irs.gov/app/eos/. We're listed as an active public charity. We'll also provide our EIN on request for your tax preparer.
What percent of the sale price actually funds programs?
After the actual tow cost (varies by distance, typically $75–$200) and DMV/title processing, the remainder funds programs directly. There is no third-party processor taking a cut between you and the kids.
Why donate to a small local charity instead of a national one?
National brands often outsource the entire pickup-and-sale operation to the same third-party vendors anyway, then pay a royalty fee for the brand name. Going direct to the operating charity removes those layers.
Can my company donate a fleet vehicle?
Yes. We handle company-titled vehicles, signed-by-officer transfers, and multi-vehicle pickups. Call 770-871-9422 for fleet coordination.
