Transfer of Ownership
The legal step where the title moves from donor to charity (or designated buyer).
What it means
Transfer of ownership happens when you sign the title over at vehicle pickup. The towing partner accepts the title on behalf of the charity. From that moment forward, you no longer own the vehicle and are not liable for parking tickets, accidents, or registration. (Notify your insurance and DMV to remove the vehicle from your records.)
