Lien Release

Lender's written confirmation that an auto-loan lien is satisfied.

What it means

Once an auto loan is paid off, the lender issues a lien release. This document, combined with the title, allows ownership transfer. If you have a lien-marked title but the loan is paid, contact your lender for the release letter. Without lien release, the title is legally not transferable.
