Lien on Title

A legal claim against the vehicle (usually from an auto loan) that prevents transfer.

What it means

If your vehicle has a lien (auto loan, equity loan), you can't transfer it until the lien is released — typically by paying off the loan. If you still owe money, you must obtain a lien release letter from the lender before donating. Some charities will work with the lender directly in special cases.
