Year-End Donation
A donation made before Dec 31 to claim the deduction on the current year's tax return.
What it means
To claim a vehicle donation on the current tax year's return, the title transfer must be complete by December 31 of that year. Submit your information no later than mid-December for safe processing. If pickup spills into January, the donation counts for the next tax year. Form 1098-C is mailed after sale, which often falls into the next year regardless.
