Good Faith Estimate

Charity's best estimate of the vehicle's likely sale value, given at pickup.

What it means

When a charity acknowledges receipt of a vehicle, it often provides a 'good faith estimate' of expected sale proceeds. This is not your final deduction — Form 1098-C reports the actual sale. The good-faith number is for planning; rely on 1098-C for tax filing.
