Adjusted Gross Income (AGI)
Your gross income minus specific above-the-line deductions; AGI sets the ceiling for charitable deductions.
What it means
AGI is calculated on Form 1040 line 11. Charitable deductions are limited to a percentage of AGI: 60% for cash to public charities, 50% for noncash gifts (including vehicles), and 30% for some other property. Unused deduction carries forward up to 5 years.
